YOUR LOCAL LICENSED BUILDING INSPECTOR

My name is Tony De Abreu and I am your local Jim’s Building Inspector. My main area of operation is from Applecross to Murdoch and Myaree to Rossmoyne, but work all over the metro area.

I have worked in the local (Perth) Building and Construction industry since 2001. I operated a small Bricklaying Contracting Service to some of Perth’s best builders with over 15 years of experience.

Some of my proudest accomplishments, whilst being in the industry was being able to build multiple Display homes for various Building Companies and being nominated for the “Best Brickwork category”.

I come from a strong back ground in the Building Industry, with my Father and many other family members also connected. It’s on construction sites where I spent most of my youth from a young age.

From the age of 6 I would go with my Dad on site on Saturdays, (playing in the sand pile) and observing what he’s was doing. I took a real interest in what he was doing and was appointed various roles. Such as “jointing” (raking in those days), general cleaning and passing him bricks and tools. This eventually led to working on School holidays and other free time. By the time I was 15, I could mix mud and lay a “good brick”.

My Dad always wanted me to stay in school and choose a different profession. I completed year 12 at Seton Catholic College and went on to complete a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Accounting. During this time my father had retired from the industry, so I would work with a family member as a Bricklayer in his organisation on days that I wasn’t studying.

6 months after completing my diploma in accounting, I realised that being in an office wasn’t for me, and started my own Bricklaying Contracting Service to some of Perth’s Builders.

Over the 15+ years, working in the industry, I have made some really great friends and associates. I have also seen the industry evolve and change over that time, some for the best and some for the worst.

I have gone onto completing my Diploma in Building and Construction in 2018, with the Master Builders Association of WA and became a Registered Building Practitioner, BP103259. I have also travelled interstate to complete other Building Training Courses that aren’t offered here in the West, (CRBI). Complete Residential Building Inspections.

I am now focussed on using my knowledge and experience by providing a Building and Inspection Service. My Inspections are quite thorough, detailed and in accordance with AS 4349.1 . I also use the latest technology, non-invasive moisture meters and thermal imaging cameras, to see the things that your eyes just can’t see.   

My main principles of my business are focussed on Client Service and going above and beyond of what is normally accepted.

I have been married since 2005 to my lovely wife, in which we have 4 children, 3 boys and 1 girl. I enjoy fishing/boating, hiking along the Bibbulmun Track, prospecting for gold out in remote WA’s beautiful outback, Travelling Australia and the globe, gardening, building and renovating Properties and enjoy spending as much time with my family as I can.
